Plasticizers are materials which increase the workability, flexibility or distensibility of PVC (26). Plasticizers may also lower second order transition (Tg) temperature or elastic modulus of the plastic. The PVC is unique in its acceptance of large amounts of plasticizers with gradual changes in physical properties from a rigid solid to a soft gel. [Pg.47]

In general, plasticizers for PVC resins are esters of aliphatic and aromatic di and tricarboxcyhc acids and organic phosphates. High molecular weight alkylaromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbons and [Pg.47]

As no plasticizer can satisfy all these properties, several plasticizers are mixed to achieve the desired properties of the final product. The compatibility of plasticizer with PVC resin is also an important parameter in plasticizer selection (27). [Pg.49]
