B. Other useful laboratoi studies include CBC, plasma-free hemoglobin, electrolytes, BUN, creatinine, urinalysis for free hemoglobin, liver transami-nsises, bilirubin, and prothrombin time (PT). 

Major components of blood plasma are complex proteins such as globulins, serum albumin, fibrinogen, prothrombin and lipoproteins. In addition, urea, cholesterol, glucose, sodium chloride and various organic acids are also present. Numerous other components, usually present in trace quantities, include hormones, vitamins, free amino acids, foreign ions and elements. 

There are many other coagulation tests described in the literature which investigators have used to evaluate the lipid materials. These include the whole blood clotting time in glass or silicone-treated tubes, the thrombin generation test, and the prothrombin consumption test using clotted blood or platelet-free native plasma. In general they are modifications or variations of the basic principles involved in the assays mentioned above.
