Planning the Kaizen Event

If they are planning a lean- or cycle time-focused kaizen, they will want to ensure they understand the process steps involved in the current state 

Starting at the top is the name of the process they will observe and improve followed by an agreed upon starting and ending point of that process. 

It is important for the facilitator to keep the team within some boundaries, or the scope of their assignment together. When they start discussing and pursuing improvement opportunities outside of their scope it is called scope creep. 

Kaizen blitz events are team-based events that take advantage of the power of teamwork. Teams bring diversity in skills, thought, and knowledge. Inviting individuals to join the team should be based on some underlying reasoning. Some examples include
