We know the mass of sample (0.312 6 g), so we need to find the mass of piperazine. The experiment gives us the mass of the product piperazine diacetate (0.712 1 g) made from piperazine. How much piperazine is contained in 0.712 1 g of piperazine diacetate Each mole of piperazine diacetate contains one mole of piperazine in Reaction 7-1. If we compute the moles of piperazine diacetate product, we can find the moles of piperazine in the sample. From the moles of piperazine, we can calculate the grams of piperazine and its weight percent. 

Several cyclic glyphosate analogs related to this series were described previously as intermediates to prepare glyphosate. These include various N-phosphonomethylhydantoins and diketopiperazines. A more extended glyphosate piperazine analog 106 has also been prepared firom the Mannich reaction of ethylenediamine-lV,lV -diacetic acid (65). 

S)-l is obtained from the bis(methyl carbonate) of (Z)-2-butene-l,4-diol and l,2-bis(tosyl-amino)ethane through a tandem pa]ladium(0)-catalyzed allylic substitution in the presence of (R)-BINAP (I) as chiral ligand79. Equilibration of the 7t-allylpalladium intermediates formed before the intramolecular nucleophilic attack is necessary for high enantioselectivity. Thus, only a racemic piperazine is produced in the reaction of the more nucleophilic l,2-bis(benzyl-amino)ethane with the diacetate of (Z)- or ( )-2-butene-l,4-diol. 

Piperazine-N,N -diacetic acid dithioamide refluxed 3 hrs. with p-methoxyphen-acyl bromide in abs. ethanol containing 2-3 drops of pyridine, and the product shaken 10 min. with 1 1 aq.
