Pipe bundle condenser

An organic vapour is being condensed at 350 K on the outside of a bundle of pipes through which water flows at 0.6 m/s, its inlet temperature being 290 K. The outer and inner diameters of die pipes are 19 min and 15 mm respectively, but a layer of scale 0.25 mm thick and thermal conductivity 2.0 W/in K has formed on die inside of the pipes. [Pg.844]

Compressors and their related equipment are usually located in one area for conunon operation and servicing adjacent to the main pipe radk and the auxiliary road. The suaion drum for the machine should be positioned for flexibility in the piping and to accommodate orifice run requirements. If the compressor is driven by a condensing turbine, a surface condenser and condensate pumps are required. If servicing one machine, the condenser may be located beneath the turbine. If it services two or more, the condenser must be located ac acent to the machines it services. In both cases, space must be provided for condaaser tube bundle removal. [Pg.47]

The boiler is composed of a bundle of vertical pipes, generally 2 m high and with an internal diameter of 2 cm. The heating vapor condenses on the outside of the pipes, and it is in those tubes that the boiling takes place. From the very start of the operation, the device must be overdimensioned. If the lower part of the tubes is flooded with the condensate of the heating vapor, the boiler, whilst it may be oversized, will deliver the correct amount of thermal power. We merely need to gradually lower the level of condensate to increase the device s power. Naturally, if the heating system is electrical, we simply need to set the position of a rheostat to obtain the desired power. [Pg.128]

The live steam condenses at the outside of the heat exchanger pipes and runs as liquid film to the bottom of the tube bundle. There, the condensate will be discharged via valve AA04. [Pg.131]
