Physiological synergism

Prosch and Weber proposed that the synergism of dinitroaniline and chloroacetanilide herbicides on ivyleaf morning glory [Ipomoea hederacea (L.) Jacq.] could be the result of the differential effects of these herbicides on mitosis. Dinitroaniline herbicides such as trifluralin and oryzalin inhibit mitosis by binding to plant tubulin and inhibiting microtubule polymerization. An acetanilide-induced inhibition of specific proteins in the spindle fibers of protein cells has been suggested, but it has yet to be demonstrated conclusively. [Pg.174]

Taken together, these results show that the endocannabinoid system plays an important role in the physiological modulation of nociceptive transmission and in the development of inflammatory and neuropathic pain. Furthermore, the endocannabinoid system seems to participate in the antinociception induced by anti-inflammatory drugs, and displays an important synergic effect with opioid agonists. These data strongly support the therapeutic potential of cannabinoid receptor agonists for the treatment of chronic pain. [Pg.127]
