Photoimaging technology

After a historical introduction of PET and its fundamentals, in the first two chapters, the following contributions cover some elementary reactions, Le. bond cleavage, as well as oxygenations and PET of charged species. The last two chapters turn to applications which are currently being extensively studied in research as well as in the chemical industry. Photoimaging technologies are discussed in the final contribution and may be taken as an example for photochemical methods which are essential in industrial applications. 

Each researcher patented their experimental discoveries. Photoimaging technology was born in the early 1950 s. Much has transpired in the intervening 50-odd years since these inventions were published, and yet many new applications of this now ancient technology are being developed even today.

Similar types of cross-linking reactions are observed for polymers to which photosensitive molecules ate chemically attached to the backbone of the polymer stmcture (Fig. 7). Radiation curing of polymers using uv and visible light energies is used widely in photoimaging and photoresist technology (Table 8) (58,59).
