Phosphorus V sulfide

Phosphorus(V) sulfide reacts with olefins, amines, Grignard reagents, and terpenes (6,26) as follows ... [Pg.364]

Interaction of a mixture of sulfur and the oxide under inert atmosphere above 160°C to form tetraphosphorus hexaoxide tetrasulfide is violent and dangerous on scales of working other than small [1], A safer procedure involving distillation of phosphorus(V) oxide and phosphorus(V) sulfide is described [2],... [Pg.1881]

The acids prepared by the alcoholysis of phosphorus(V) sulfide are frequently unstable to oxidative-hydrolytic action of the atmosphere thus, immediate conversion of the acids to metal complexes is recommended. The acids can be stored under nitrogen for reasonable periods of time without extensive de-... [Pg.69]

Schrauzer, Mayweg and Heinrich have reported the preparation of the complex 5 from the reaction of aqueous nickel(ll) chloride with a reaction mixture of benzoin in dioxane and phosphorus(V) sulfide. The parent acid and its salts have not been characterized. The only other closed ring complex, 6, was isolated in low yield (3%) subsequent to the reaction of nickel (II) acetate with the mixture resulting from the reaction of 1,3-propanediol with phosphorus(V) sulfide. As for 5, the parent acid and its salts were not... [Pg.75]

The preparation of metal dithiophosphate complexes usually involves the reaction of metal halides or acetates with dithiophosphoric acids or their salts. The metal complexes are generally purified by repeated fractional crystallization from halocarbon solvents such as chloroform. The reactions of mixtures of alcohols and alcohols and phenols with phosphorus(V) sulfide allegedly,... [Pg.75]

Dihydrobenzoxazin-3-one 20 and its A -methyl derivative 165 can be converted into the corresponding thiocarbonyl compounds 166 and 167 using Lawesson s reagent <1988M1439> or phosphorus(v) sulfide <2005H(65)579> (Equation 9). [Pg.479]

Fifty grams of sodium hydroxide are dissolved in 250xnl of water and 60g of technical phosphorus (V) sulfide (No. [Pg.63]

Lubricating oil -petroleum fraction [PETROLEUM - REFINERY PROCESSES, SURVEY] (Vol 18) -phosphorus(V) sulfide for [PHOSPHORUS COMPOUNDS] (Vol 18) -recycling of [RECYCLING - OIL] (Vol 21) -sulfur additive [SULFURCOMPOUNDS] (Vol 23)... [Pg.579]

THIOLS Phosphorus(V) sulfide. Sodium trithiocarbonate. Thiourea. [Pg.652]

Salts of the ester 0,0 -diethyl dithiophosphate have been prepared by two different methods. One involves the reaction of (C2H50)2P(S)C1 with potassium hydrogen sulfide.1 The other is the reaction of phosphorus (V) sulfide with ethanol followed by the addition of metal halide.1-3 The second method is the basis for this preparation, although the chromium(III) compound has not previously been reported. Salts of cobalt(III), nickel(II), and lead(II) can be prepared by analogous reactions using cobalt (III) fluoride, nickel(II) chloride 6-hydrate, and lead(I) oxide, respectively. [Pg.142]

Several procedures have been reported for the synthesis of phosphorus (V) sulfochloride. These include the reaction of phosphorus(V) chloride with hydrogen sulfide,1,2 of phosphorus (III) chloride with sulfur,3 4 of carbon tetrachloride with phosphorus(V) sulfide,5 and of phosphorus(V) chloride with phosphorus(V) sulfide.5 The second and fourth methods form the bases for the two syntheses presented here. [Pg.71]

Preparation from Phosphorus (V) Sulfide and Phosphorus (V) Chloride... [Pg.73]

The older literature reports the synthesis of phosphorus-(V) sulfochloride by reaction of phosphorus (V) chloride with phosphorus (V) sulfide in a sealed tube at 120°. Experience has shown that pressures as great as 700 p.s.i. may result under these conditions, indicating that an autoclave or bomb should be used. In the absence of these, the reactor shown in Fig. 8 is suitable. It consists of an oil bath containing a lecture bottle fitted with a pipe plug (iron pipe size, % in.), a thermometer, and a knife type of immersion heater. Although no difficulty has been experienced in the use of this reactor, it is well to keep it behind a barricade during the reaction. [Pg.73]

Fia. 8. Apparatus for the preparation of phosphorus (V) sulfochloride from phosphorus(V) sulfide and phosphorus (V) chloride. [Pg.74]

A mixture of Sg and phosphorus(V) sulfide may also be used to sulfurize organic compounds certain epidisulfanes are transformed to epitrisulfanes. The reaction of SCI2 with 1,4-diethoxybenzene, catalyzed by A CI, in CS2 or CHCI3, yields a bis-tetrasulfane in which two S4 units bridge the two benzene rings. ... [Pg.4683]
