Graham et al. (416) have concluded that the ground state is linear 2E on the basis of electron spin resonance of C2H in solid matrices. The absorption spectra in the gas phase have apparently not been observed. Graham et al. (416) have seen two weak absorption bands at about 3300 and 10,000 A in solid Ar and have assigned the former to a B2A <- X2L transition and the latter to an A2W - X2Z transition. However, Gilra (398a) believes that the 10,000 A transition is part of the C2 Phillips system. D0(C2—H) = 5.33 0.05 eV. [Pg.70]

One way of increasing the flexibility of a protein is to denature it (e.g., by heating or treatment with urea). Denaturation will also occur after adsorption of the protein at the interface (Graham and Phillips, 1979), a process that may be slow. The properties of an emulsion are, therefore, time-dependent. [Pg.352]

The transient surface pressure (tt) of adsorbed (3-lg, PS and mixed (3-lg/PS systems was determined. Figure 25.1 shows 7r-time curves for the systems with KO, KLVF, and X. The increase in the surface pressure with time observed for (3-lg should be associated with protein adsorption at the air-water interface (Graham and Phillips, 1979 Damodaran and Song, 1988). The value of surface pressure after long adsorption time of 5000 sec, r(775000) for 0.1 wt% protein concentration was 14 mN/m, a value close to that... [Pg.423]

In the literature, attempts were made to And analytical expressions for equations of state to describe the adsorption of polymers at interfaces. At the same time, such relations can be used as the basis for the theoretical description of dynamic interfacial processes. Graham Phillips (1979, 1980) used the well-known square-root-approximation for the kinetics of protein adsorption... [Pg.130]

A very simple relation for the relaxation process caused by harmonic disturbances is also given by Graham Phillips. This can be combined with any explicit adsorption equations. MacRitchie (1963, 1986, 1989, 1991) and Damodaran Song (1988) also used this approximation and additionally some linear reaction equations taking into consideration the area AA needed for a molecule to adsorb were derived. [Pg.131]
