Phidolopora pacifica

The northeast Pacific bryozoans Phidolopora pacifica contained two nitrophenols, desmethylphidolopin (448) and 3-nitro-4-hydroxybenzyl alcohol (449) (365). Desmethylphidolopin (448) showed antimicrobial activity. 2-Amino-6-[(r/ ,2 5)-l, 2 -dihydroxypropyl]-3-methyl pterin-4-one (450) was isolated from the anthozoan Astroides calycularis collected in the Bay of Naples and exhibited cell growth-inhibiting activity (366). The structure of leucettidine, a pteridine derivative found in Leucetta microra-... [Pg.105]

The class Stenolaemata is represented in the literature by a single genus. The organism Diaperoecia californica was reported to produce desmethylphidolopin, a purine derivative. This compound was also isolated from the ectoproct Phidolopora pacifica (class Gymnolaemata, order Cheilostomata).126... [Pg.21]

In an earlier report phidolopin, 106, a purine which contains the rare nitro functional group, was isolated from Phidolopora pacifica [45]. Further investigation of this and four other bryozoans from the... [Pg.89]

An unusual nitrophenol (C14H13N5O5, Mr 331.29, mp. 226.227 °C) isolated from the bryozoa Phidolopora pacifica. P. has antifungal and antibacterial activities and is also active against algae (e. g. the diatom Cylin-drothecafusiformis). [Pg.485]
