From solubility determinations of various nonelectrolytcs, such as helium, argon, hydrogen and other gases, ethyl acetate, diacetone alcohol, phenyl thiocarbamide, phenol and aniline, in the presence of electrolytes, it has been found that log (7/70) varies approximately in a linear manner with the ionic strength of the aqueous solution, viz.,... 

Reaction of o-phenylenediamine with phenyl isothiocyanate in CCI4 gave thiocarbamide 37 which underwent oxidative cyclization to benzothiadiazine 38 upon treatment with ethanolic iodine followed by basification with ammonium hydroxide solution (Scheme 2). Analogous results were obtained using a variety of ring-substituted phenyl isothiocyanates as well as /-butyl isothiocyanate in this sequence, with overall yields ranging from 69% to 87% <2004JIC775>.

The thiocarbamides with an aryl fragment at one nitrogen atom and -allylic and thietanyl fragments at the other have the highest activity with cumyl hydroperoxide, and among these compounds, A[-(o-methyl-phenyl)-A[ -allylthiocarbamide, has the highest stoichiometric coefficient (v) and markedly differs in its activity.
