Phenyl amide

Monaca et al. (2003) examined the effect of the SSRI citalopram on REMS in 5-HTia and 5-HTib knockout mice. Citalopram suppressed REMS in wild-type and 5-HTib mice but not in 5-HT,A I mutants. The 5-HTja receptor antagonist WAY 100635 prevented the citalopram-induced inhibition of REMS in wild-type and 5-HTib knockout mice. However, pretreatment with the 5-HTib receptor antagonist GR 127935 [2 -methyl-4 -(5-methyl-(l,2,4)oxadiazol-3-yl)-biphenyl-4-carboxylic acid ((4-methoxy-piperazine-l-yl)-phenyl)amide] was ineffective in this respect. It was concluded that the action of citalopram on REMS in the mouse depends exclusively on the activation of 5-HT,A receptors. Notwithstanding this, there is unequivocal evidence showing that administration of selective 5-HTib receptor agonists suppresses REMS in the rat. 

Syntheses in this category consist of intermolecular thioalkylation of 5-oxo+,5-dihydro-pyrazole-l-carbothioic acid phenyl amides 253 followed by intramolecular aldol condensation to give substituted pyrazolothiazole-type compounds 254 (Equation 111) < 1998PS119>. 

Other examples of nonionic compounds (Fig. 10, Table 3) are the phenyl-amide herbicides (e. g., Diphenamid, moderately water soluble and nonvolatile), thiocarbamate, and carbothioate herbicides (e. g., Thiobencarb, low water solubility, high vapor pressure, relative mobility in soil systems) and benzonitrile herbicides (e.g., Dichlobenil, low water solubility, low vapor pressure, relative immobility in most soils) [151].

The temperature dependence of the oscillation amplitudes associated with the carbonyl groups, shown in Fig. 83, is very similar to that of the aromatic carbons, indicating that the C = O groups and adjacent phenyl rings are involved in correlated motions. Such a conclusion is consistent with the quasi-conjugated character exhibited by the phenyl-amide bond.

Miles and Moye [171] have shown that several classes of nitrogen containing pesticides responded to a high performance liquid chromatography post-column reaction detector that employed ultraviolet photolysis with optional reaction with o-phthalicdicarboxaldehyde-2-mercaptoethanol followed by fluorescence detection. It was applied to the determination of jV-methylcarbamates, carbamoyl oximes, carbamethoic acids, dithiocarbamates and phenyl ureas, phenyl amides and phenyl carbamates in groundwater.
