Phenomenological Classification

Most elementary chemical reactions can be categorized as unimolecular or bimolecular events. However, further phenomenological classification is useful for the development of detailed chemical kinetic models. This way, rate parameters for new reactions can be estimated rapidly and reliably by analogy to similar reactions in the same phenomenological class. In addition, the number of different elementary reactions that must separately be treated is reduced. It must be recognized, however, that exceptional cases... [Pg.132]

We will review selected topographic features of organic catalysis over zeolites, examining more recent findings and some earlier work with the perspective of a somewhat different system of mechanistic and phenomenological classification. [Pg.261]

The phenomenological classification of compact 3D Me deposits by Fischer (cf. Section 6.1) can be related to the nucleation and growth parameters discussed above. For example, the field-oriented isolation (FI) and texture (FT) types are caused by electric field-enhanced normal growth, the base-oriented reproduction (B t3 e corresponds to a relatively low nucleation rate and comparable normal and lateral growth rates, and the randomly-oriented dispersion (RD) type to an enhanced nucleation rate. [Pg.283]

Not necessarily in an historical order but rather as a phenomenological classification, one should learn that the actual quantum chemistry originates in five levels of quantum approximations imposed on the many-elec-tronic-many-nuclei systems, either in isolate or interacting state. They are summarized below along mentioning the current limitations, controversies and prospects. [Pg.359]
