The main side effects associated with Axokine are nausea and cough. Unlike the other drugs discussed in this book, Axokine is an injection, not a pill. Axokine must be given with a needle, which may cause some pain at the site where it is injected. Axokine is currently being studied in a Phase III trial for weight loss. If Axokine proves to be safe and effective, it should be available in the United States within a few years. 

Monophasic OCs contain the same amounts of estrogen and progestin for 21 days, followed by 7 days of placebo. Biphasic and triphasic pills contain variable amounts of estrogen and progestin for 21 days and are followed by a 7-day placebo phase. 

Formation of texture of crystalline systems differs due to the existence of phase transitions. Very important in this case is the parameter b= Vb, offered by Pilling and Bedworth in 1923 [45], This parameter is equal to the ratio of the volume, of product solid phase to the volume,... 

Pilling-Bedworth ratio of 1 96, anatase phase films can show cracks and fissures with, consequendy, a loss of mechanical stability, however a hydrogen reduction treatment above 600°C leads to phase transition from anatase (101) to rutile (110) [43] with XRD detecting TiH2 upon prolonged hydrogen treatment of titania. As shown in Fig. 4.4, introduction of vanadium increases the intensity of the anatase Ti02 peak above 700°C disappearance of the vanadium (001) peak and the simultaneous appearance of the rutile (110) peak are observed, but anatase continues to dominate even after heat treatment at 800° C. A sharp vanadium (001) peak is observed for heat treatments carried out in air, while no vanadium peak has been seen in the case of heat treatment at 600°C in presence of Ar/H2. 

This is a combined pill but biphasic or triphasic in nature e.g. the estrogen level is kept constant but the progestin amount is low in early phase and increasing in subsequent phases of menstrual cycle. 

This phase is characterized by fewer but more enjoyable people contacts, an increase in pill taking, and more time in front of a television set. Sleeping is more erratic. Although personal pride is of utmost importance for most people, previous standards of behavior become less important. 

The incorporation of guest molecules can be achieved during their growth or is executed at defect sites and holes via wet chemistry, by surface diffusion and gas-phase transport. Encapsulated fullerenes tend to form chains that are coupled by van der Waals forces. Upon annealing, the encapsulated fullerenes coalesce in the interior of the SWCNTs, resulting in pill-shaped, concentric, endohedral capsules a few nanometers in length [265], The progress of such reactions inside the tubes could be monitored in real time by use of HR-TEM [266],...

The Pilling-Bedworth relation is not commonly known. Consider the solid-phase transformation aA Cgi —>bB Cg2. The relation of the stoichiometric volume of solid phase B to that of solid phase A can be expressed as APB = bVBlaVa = bMBppJaMpjyB. When ApB > 1 the solid-phase reaction proceeds with an increase of the solid phase volume, and vice versa. The latter situation is illustrated in Figure 5 for dry and wet stages of synthesis. 

The resultant fabrics are unique in that they have many functional property improvements thermal adaptability due to the phase change nature of the bound polyol, durable press or resiliency, soil release, reduction of static charge, antimicrobial activity, enhanced hydrophilicity and improved flex life, and resistance to pilling. Because of the different molecular weights of polyols, resins, acid catalysts, and fabric constructions, there are numerous modified fabrics that can be produced with sets of improved attributes. Each fabric must be carefully evaluated for optimum curing conditions and formulations to produce the desired product. Several licenses have been granted for this process. Various types of apparel, healthcare items, and industrial fabrics are currently evaluated for commercial production [381,382].
