The main side effects associated with Axokine are nausea and cough. Unlike the other drugs discussed in this book, Axokine is an injection, not a pill. Axokine must be given with a needle, which may cause some pain at the site where it is injected. Axokine is currently being studied in a Phase III trial for weight loss. If Axokine proves to be safe and effective, it should be available in the United States within a few years. [Pg.103]

The Pilling-Bedworth relation is not commonly known. Consider the solid-phase transformation aA Cgi —>bB Cg2. The relation of the stoichiometric volume of solid phase B to that of solid phase A can be expressed as APB = bVBlaVa = bMBppJaMpjyB. When ApB > 1 the solid-phase reaction proceeds with an increase of the solid phase volume, and vice versa. The resultant fabrics are unique in that they have many functional property improvements thermal adaptability due to the phase change nature of the bound polyol, durable press or resiliency, soil release, reduction of static charge, antimicrobial activity, enhanced hydrophilicity and improved flex life, and resistance to pilling. Because of the different molecular weights of polyols, resins, acid catalysts, and fabric constructions, there are numerous modified fabrics that can be produced with sets of improved attributes. Each fabric must be carefully evaluated for optimum curing conditions and formulations to produce the desired product. Several licenses have been granted for this process.
