Peters and Waterman

Peters and Waterman (1982) identified several factors that were common to successfiil American companies. One of these factors was the implementation of a system of effective communications within an organisation. The concept of culture became a very popular management subject in the early 1980s, because of the popularity of a book written by Peters and Waterman, In Search of Excellence. That book described what it was that accounted for the economic success of a number of companies. Other books followed, delving into the concept [3,4]. [Pg.29]

Management By Walking Around (MBWA) was introduced by Peters Waterman in their book In Search of Excellence (Peters Waterman, 2004). This technique, if properly used, suggests that members of the leadership team routinely and consistently walk around their operation, observing, and conducting one-on-one discussions with their employees. [Pg.138]
