Pert interaction

PERT is an acronym for Program Evaluation and Review Technique. It is a more sophisticated form of planning than Gantt charts, and is appropriate for projects with many interactive steps. There are three components of a PERT diagram circles or other convenient, closed figures represent events arrows connecting the circles represent activities and non-activities connecting two events are shown as dotted-line arrows. (A non-activity represents a dependency between two events for which no work is required.)... 

It has been suggested that abnormalities in attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder in children and adults may be similar to those seen in early stages of PD (McCracken 1991). Of interest is that nicotinic mechanisms interact closely with dopamine systems (Kirch et al. 1988) and that nicotinic receptors may serve to regulate dopamine release (Clarke and Pert 1985 Rapier et al. 1990) in striatal and mesolimbic pathways. Nicotine is now being tried as an experimental treatment for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder in adults (Levin et al. 1995).

The appeal to classical theory is avoided in a theory of radiation due to Dirac [35] in which the same formula for intensities is derived by the application of pert urbation theory to a weakly interacting system of atoms and radiation. A serious objection to the theory, however, is that for higher approximations to the perturbation interaction entirely meaningless results-diverging integrals—-are obtained. A fuller discussion of these difficulties is given in Chapter IX.

All the algorithms and implementations for substructure search discussed in this chapter have to deal with the problem of NP-completeness. Although the worst case spectre of the problem haunts all computational approaches, the practical requirement is that a search system provides acceptable pert or-mance for the range of queries specified and moieties stored in the database. The most important attribute to consider is the average time required to respond to a user search request. Similarly, the time taken to return the first match might be an important consideration, especially for interactive applications.
