Peroxide vulcanization advantages

There are a number of advantages, listed below, associated with the peroxide vulcanization of elastomers ... [Pg.437]

The most important crosslinking agent for pressureless hot air vulcanization of silicone rubber is DClBP(Bis-2,4-dichloro-benzoyl-peroxide) (Fig. 14). It generates decomposition products, which are removed in a post-curing process with air blowing. This product provides the advantage of a fast cure rate and bubble-free cured transparent rubber. [Pg.158]

Liquid polybutadienes without functional groups may be vulcanized on double bonds of the diene part of the polymeric chain in the presence of a sulfur-accelerating, redox, or peroxide system. However, only the sulfur-accelerating system is able to provide the maximal durability values. Sulfur also has other advantages such as low price, availability, and so on. The amount of involved sulfur in the system depends on the desired properties of the product. For hard RubCon, this is 47-55 mass parts per 100 mass parts of rubber. [Pg.28]

Mixed vulcanizations, such as with zinc oxide and sulfur or zinc oxide and peroxide, are used for carboxylated NBRs in order to combine the advantages of the ionic method with the conventional methods. The mixed vulcanizates have high tensile strength and notable resistance to abrasion, oil, and fuel. They are used in applications such as industrial rollers and wheels and shoe soles. Dry NBRs are available in fewer grades than lattices. Examples are Krynac by Doverstrand and Hycar by Goodrich. [Pg.636]

Rubber maker s sulfur is by far the most commonly used vulcanizing agent for curing rubber. Elemental sulfur cures impart advantages in flex fatigue, scorch safety time, and cost versus other vulcanizing agents such as peroxides. [Pg.265]
