Prepared feeds are marketed in various forms from very fine particles through cmmbles, flakes, and pellets. Pelleted rations may be hard, semimoist, or moist. Hard pellets typically contain less than 10% water and can be stored under cool, dry conditions for at least 90 days without deterioration of quahty. Semimoist pellets are chemically stabilized to protect them from degradation and mold if they are properly stored, while moist pellets must be frozen if they are not used immediately after manufacture. Moist feeds are produced in machines similar to sausage grinders. [Pg.21]

In an extension of this work, pellets of a blend of PCL and hy-droxypropylcellulose containing fluridone were prepared by grinding, blending, and then melt-spinning the mixture with a Berstorff twin screw extruder (78). The extruded rod was subsequently water-quenched and pelletized. Pellets were also prepared by coating bundles of extruded rods with the water-soluble excipients PEG 3350 and PEG 600 (95 5). In vitro release rate measurements were conducted in the simulant medium of 50% aqueous ethanol or hardened water. [Pg.90]

The inclusion of the relatively large chlorine into the polymeric chain reduces the tendency to crystallize. Commercially available grades include a homopolymer, which is mainly used for special applications, and copolymers with small amounts (less than 5%) of vinylidene fluoride.84 The products are supplied as powder, pellets, pellets containing 15% glass liber, and dispersions. Low-molecular-weight polymer is available as oil or grease. The oil is used to plasticize PCTFE.85... [Pg.48]

Vertical shaft furnaces (see Fig. 6.2) are used to harden natural magnetite pellets. Pellets are fed into the top of the shaft, which is rectangular in cross section, and descend against an upward flow of hot air. Typical operating data are given in Table 6.3. [Pg.128]

Polyimide sulfone resins were melt processed using a single screw extruder with an 80p filter, extruded into strands, cooled, and then cut into pellets. Pellets were injection molded into parts at 370°C to 390°C. The resins in the molded parts showed less than a 30% thermal deterioration in molecular weight. [Pg.709]

Pellets. Pellets are mainly prepared by four different methods powder layering, rotating fluidized bed, extrusion/spheronization, and the agglomeration method. The oldest one is the so-called. [Pg.3233]

It is used as a static desiccant in household refrigeration systems in packaging of drugs, electronic components and peri able chemicals and as a water scavenger in paint and plastic systems. Also used commercially in drying saturated hydrocarbon streams. [Pg.497]

Pellet fuel is made of wood residues which are left over from lumber production. The material is taken to a pellet mill where it is dried, compressed and formed into small, cylindrical pellets. Pellets are supplied directly to the storage device by specialised tanker trucks. [Pg.855]
