PDMS in Olive Oil and Wine

For wine samples, approximately 500 g were weighed into a conical flask with a ground-glass stopper and shaken for 2 hours with 5 ml of carbon tetrachloride. After separation of the layers, the organic layer was removed. [Pg.120]

Reported values of PDMS contents in a range of 28 imported wines range between 0.06 to 0.35 mg/kg and for edible oils range between 0.6 to 11.9 mg/kg (Table 9.2) [21]. The latter value being obtained for Italian corn oil. With the exception of Italian corn oil none of the wine or oil samples exceeded the permissible standards of 10 mg/kg laid down by the Codex Alimentarius Commission. [Pg.120]
