Kinetic experiments with a partially purified enzyme from Ehrlich ascites cells and with recombinant protein suggest that the reaction catalyzed by alkyl-DHAP synthase involves a ping-pong mechanism, with an activated enzyme-DHAP intermediary complex playing a central role [26].
