Parenthetical sentences

If a parenthetical sentence is within another sentence, do not use a final period within the closing parenthesis, and do not start the parenthetical sentence with a capital letter. 

If we disregard the parenthetical remarks, (PI) is but a tautology. The parenthetical remarks have been justified in the previous discussion. (P2) is the contraposition of the T-equivalence involving the sentence We are brains in a vat in classical logic, where p is not true is equivalent with p is false . 

Parenthetical expressions contain information that is subsidiary to the point of the sentence. The sentence does not depend on the information within the parentheses. 

Do not use parentheses when citing a reference number in narrative text. In such a case, the reference number is the point of the sentence, not subsidiary information, and thus not parenthetical. 

Set off interrupters or parenthetical elements appearing in the midst of a sentence. A parenthetical element is additional information placed as explanation or comment within an already complete sentence. This element may be a word (such as certainly or fortunately ), a phrase ( for example or in fact ), or a clause ( I believe or you know ). The word, phrase, or clause is parenthetical if the sentence parts before and after it fit together and make sense. 

It is unnecessary to add idbu and re wa lahu sdbiqah with the Cairo edition. The main sentence is li-Zuhrah dhu dbah. ..wa sdbiqah the phrase in between is parenthetical.
