Paramagnetic Impurities in Superconductors

The effect of well-localized inner unpaired 4/ electrons on 7 of LaAl2 (7 = 3.24°K) has been studied. The initial rate of depression of 7 correlates rather well with the de Gennes factor for the heavy rare earths. 

Although the Abrikosov-Gorkov theory has been quite successful in explaining many of the effects of well-defined magnetic impurities, some experimental results are not explainable by theory and have been discussed by Sugawara. °
