Palladium complexes properties

The ease of formation of the carbene depends on the nucleophilicity of the anion associated with the imidazolium. For example, when Pd(OAc)2 is heated in the presence of [BMIM][Br], the formation of a mixture of Pd imidazolylidene complexes occurs. Palladium complexes have been shown to be active and stable catalysts for Heck and other C-C coupling reactions [34]. The highest activity and stability of palladium is observed in the ionic liquid [BMIM][Brj. Carbene complexes can be formed not only by deprotonation of the imidazolium cation but also by direct oxidative addition to metal(O) (Scheme 5.3-3). These heterocyclic carbene ligands can be functionalized with polar groups in order to increase their affinity for ionic liquids. While their donor properties can be compared to those of donor phosphines, they have the advantage over phosphines of being stable toward oxidation. [Pg.269]

The synthesis, structure, and catalytic properties of a Pd11 complex with a partially hydrogenated ligand, shown in Figure 31, are described.393 This study provides the first asymmetric epoxidation of alkenes catalyzed by a palladium complex.393... [Pg.587]

Several combinatorial approaches to the discovery of transition metal based catalysts for olefin polymerization have been described. In one study Brookhart-type polymer-bound Ni- and Pd-(l,2-diimine) complexes were prepared and used in ethylene polymerization (Scheme 3).60,61 A resin-bound diketone was condensed with 48 commercially available aminoarenes having different steric properties. The library was then split into 48 nickel and 48 palladium complexes by reaction with [NiBr2(dme)] and [PdClMe(COD)], respectively, all 96 pre-catalysts being spatially addressable. [Pg.518]

Dicarboxylic acids form monomeric complexes with palladium(II), K2[Pd(X2)2] (X2 = oxalate, malonate, etc,).153154 They may be prepared by warming a suspension of palladium(II) chloride with a concentrated solution of the alkali metal dicarboxylate or by using other palladium complexes containing readily substituted ligands such as [Pd(OH)2], [Pd(N03)2(H20)2] or [Pd(02CMe)2]3-155 These complexes are claimed to have useful antitumour properties.155 Complexes [Pd(X2)L2] (X2 = dicarboxylate L = amine or L2 = diamine) may be prepared by reaction of the dichloro complex with a carboxylate salt.156,128... [Pg.1114]

The current high level of interest in binuclear metal complexes arises from the expectation that the metal centers in these complexes will exhibit reactivity patterns that differ from the well-established modes of reactivity of mononuclear metal complexes. The diphosphine, bis(diphenylphosphino)methane (dpm), has proved to be a versatile ligand for linking two metals while allowing for considerable flexibility in the distance between the two metal ions involved (1). This chapter presents an overview of the reaction chemistry and structural parameters of some palladium complexes of dpm that display the unique properties found in some binuclear complexes. Palladium complexes of dpm are known for three different oxidation states. Palladium(O) is present in Pd2(dpm)3 (2). Although the structure of this molecule is unknown, it exhibits a single P-31 NMR reso-... [Pg.243]

Aside from full catalytic cycles, or reaction steps within them, as discussed above, structural issues about organometallic complexes with catalytic properties have also been analyzed with QM/MM methods. For instance, Helmchen and coworkers carried out a conformational analysis of two (w-l,3-dimethylallyl)(phosphinooxazoline)Pd complexes [128], and Magistrato et al investigated the role of n-n stacking interactions in square planar palladium complexes [129]. [Pg.145]

Two studies have been conducted that outline the effects of ligand steric and electronic properties on the relative rates for reductive elimination of amine and P-hydrogen elimination from amides. One study focused on the amination chemistry catalyzed by P(o-C6H4Me)3 palladium complexes [111], while the second focused on the chemistry catalyzed by complexes containing chelating ligands [88]. [Pg.253]

Second order non-linear optical properties have been reported for a variety of TTF donor-acceptor compounds <02T7463> and the palladium complex 84 is a room-temperature semiconductor <02CL936>. Preparation of the zinc and cadmium compounds 85 has been reported <02CC1474> and aromatic fused TTFs such as 86 form thin films with useful electrical properties <02JAP265466>. A ferromagnetic interaction occurs in the salt of a TTF... [Pg.254]
