Lettering and decoration can be applied to most materials using various printing methods. Offset printing, silk screening, and pad printing are among the methods adapted to plastics.

The primary printing presses used in plastics are gravure printing, flexography, silk-screen printing, and pad printing. 

The silicone pickup pad can be designed to meet almost any shape and configuration of the product part. This ability has prompted tremendous growth in pad printing. An additional capability of the process is that it can print several colors and impressions within one cycle of operation. Coatings can be layered when wet to accomplish multicolor designs with very accurate registration and impression quality. 

In screen printing and pad printing, untreated static electricity can result in image spider and webbing, dirt and dust on the product, tampon or screen, and shocks to your people. 

Of these traditional methods, ink printing is the most widely used. The primary benefits are the relatively low capital investment and the ability to print (pad print) on curved surfaces. The disadvantages to printing with ink are numerous and include ...

The components are radically polymerized with 2,2 -azobis(2-methylbutyronitrUe) as initiator at 68-80°C. This base ink can be used for the formulation of a black pad printing ink. Eventually, such an ink can be used for a cosmetic pattern applied by inkjet printing on the contact lens (90).
