Packaging components categories

Besides the biomolecular probes and the packaging components, the electronic components of a fully integrated biosensor array can be divided into three categories transducer, array addressing circuit, and measurement unit. As the most widely used microelectronic devices, FETs play an important role in all these three categories. 

Category D covers all kinds of substrates that interconnect and form assembiies of aiready packaged components, i.e., those from categories B and C.This category inciudes aii types of rigid PWBs, flexible and rigid-flexible, and discrete-wiring boards. 

Vertex business is divided into six categories Technical Components, Dairy, Industrial Containers, Household Products, Food Trays and Securefresh. Processes include rigid blow-moulded containers for industrial, household, chemical and agricultural products extruded sheet and thermoformed containers for food manufacturers, kiwifruit and horticultural products disposable and point-of-sale packaging for the food service sector and injection-moulded components for human and animal health products. 

Thermoplastics may be further subdivided into two broad categories on the basis of their cost and suitable end uses. Commodity plastics are typified by high volume production, good properties, and low resin cost. The four major commodity plastics are polyethylene, polypropylene, poly(vinyl chloride), and polystyrene. Their adequate properties and low cost have led to the extensive use of these plastics in packaging applications where they are very competitive with paper, steel, and glass. They are also used for some less demanding applications as components of durable goods (Table 22.1). 

One can start out with four broad end-use market categories component parts, packaging, construction, and the consumer, which are subdivided further into the specific end-use industries of concern for the particular product, as shown in Table I.
