P-Acetaminophenol

HPLC method with amperometric detection was applied for detenuination of phenols in sea sediment and some dmg preparation. Peaks of phenol, guaiacol, cresols, hydroquinon and resorcinol were identified on chromatogram of birch tai. The HPLC method with electrochemical detectors was used for detenuination of some drug prepai ation of aminophenol derivate. So p-acetaminophenol (paracetamol) was determined in some drug. [Pg.129]

Acetaminophen Acetaminophen, p-acetaminophenol (3.2.80), is synthesized by reacting p-aminophenol with acetic anhydride [76,77]. [Pg.42]

The reduction of N-alkyl- -nitroanilines to the corresponding cyclo-hexanediamines has been carried out with hydrogen over cobalt-on-alumina and ruthenium catalysts. Sometimes a nuclear-substituted aniline is acetylated before reduction in order to avoid side reactions. Thus, catalytic hydrogenation of p-acetaminophenol and ethyl p-acetaminophenyl-acetate has been successfully accomplished with platinum catalyst at 50-60° in the presence of acetic acid. [Pg.782]

The para isomer is a key intermediate in the Hoechst Celanese process for the manufacture of paracetamol (p-acetaminophenol) [2] the ortho isomer can be used for the synthesis of salicylic acid. Other hydroxyarylketones of commercial importance also result from the Fries rearrangement, e. g. 2,4-dihydroxybenzophe-none, an intermediate in the preparation of UV absorbents [3], and diphenol monomers which can be used for the manufacture of advaneed polymers [4], etc. [Pg.211]

Hydroxylated aromatic ketones represent valuable intermediate compounds in the synthesis of important fragrances and pharmaceuticals. For example, the resorcinol acylation products are employed for the production of valuable fine chemicals such as 4-0-octyl-2-hydroxybenzophenone (UV light absorbent for polymers) and ipriflavone (antiosteopenic drug). a-Hydroxyacetophenone (o-HAP) and p-hydroxyacetophenone (p-HAP) are widely used for the synthesis of aspirin and paracetamol (4-acetaminophenol), respectively [103]. a-HAP represents also a key intermediate for the production of 4-hydroxycoumarin and warfarin, which are both used as anticoagulant drugs in the therapy of thrombotic disease [104], and it is also employed for the synthesis of flavo-nones [105,106]. [Pg.73]
