Oxygenates, properties oxygen content

Another property, used to compare the flammabiUty of textile fibers, is the limiting oxygen index (LOI). This measured quantity describes the minimum oxygen content (%) in nitrogen necessary to sustain candle-like burning. Values of LOI, considered a measure of the intrinsic flammabiUty of a fiber, are Hsted in Table 2 in order of decreasing flammabiUty. [Pg.276]

CllO. The most common commercial purity copper is CllO. The principal difference between CllO and C102 is oxygen content which typically can be up to 0.05% in CllO. Oxygen is present as cuprous oxide particles, which do not significantly affect strength and ductiHty, but CllO is susceptible to hydrogen embrittlement. The properties of CllO are adequate for most appHcations and this alloy is less cosdy than higher purity copper. [Pg.230]

There are presently four famihes of high-temperature superconductors under investigation for practical magnet appheations. Table 11-25 shows that all HTS are copper oxide ceramics even though the oxygen content may vary. However, this variation generally has little effect on the phvsical properties of importance to superconductivity. [Pg.1127]

The properties of these brittle ceramics depend critically on the preparative conditions. Intimate mixtures of the oxides, carbonates or nitrates of the relevant metals in the required proportions are heated at temperatures of 900-I000°C. For YBa2Cu307 j , all compositions in the range 0 < jc < 0.5 superconduct and the highest Tc is found where jc 0. For others, the oxygen content must be stringently controlled. In all cases, the most... [Pg.1182]

In its reactions SsO shows properties typical for both sulfur homocycles and sulfoxides. With elemental chlorine SOCI2 and S2CI2 are formed, with bromine SOBr2 and S2Br2 are obtained. Water decomposes SsO to H2S and SO2 besides elemental sulfur while cyanide ions expectedly produce thiocyanate. The reaction with iodide in the presence of formic acid is used for the iodometric determination of the oxygen content [70] ... [Pg.221]

Despite being differently classified, as a DIG NGC 1569 and as a BCD NGC 1705, these two galaxies share almost the same properties (see Table 1). They have fairly similar total mass, gaseous mass, metallicity and oxygen content (as measured from HII regions). However, they differ in their N/O abundance ratios, log(N/0) = -1.39 0.05 for NGC 1569 and log(N/0) = -1.75 0.06 for NGC17051. ... [Pg.368]

Numerous biological and abiotic factors are known to modify the biocidal properties of free cyanide, including water pH, temperature, and oxygen content life stage, condition, and species assayed previous exposure to cyanide compounds presence of other chemicals and initial dose tested. There is general agreement that ... [Pg.930]

An extensive review has been conducted to identify potential oxygenates for blending into diesel fuels [55]. Over 70 molecules were identified and tested, taking into account numerous physical properties such as oxygen content, flash point, viscosity, cetane number, corrosivity, toxicity, and miscibility with diesel blends. Five key aspects were considered critical to develop commercially valuable diesel additives ... [Pg.201]

Hydroxy-terminated polyester (HTPS) is made from diethylene glycol and adipic acid, and hydroxy-terminated polyether (HTPE) is made from propylene glycol. Hydroxy-terminated polyacetylene (HTPA) is synthesized from butynediol and paraformaldehyde and is characterized by acetylenic triple bonds. The terminal OH groups of these polymers are cured with isophorone diisocyanate. Table 4.3 shows the chemical properties of typical polymers and prepolymers used in composite propellants and explosives.E4 All of these polymers are inert, but, with the exception of HTPB, contain relatively high oxygen contents in their molecular structures. [Pg.80]

In liquefactioni the additional properties of Importance are (a) the petrographic composition of the coal, and (b) Its oxygen content. [Pg.19]
