Ox, spleen

Mills,164 using an ox-spleen preparation, was the first to observe that the pH-activity curve has two peaks, and that they show little shift in pH... [Pg.402]

O-Seryl-A -acetyl-galactosamiiiidase activities have been described in preparations from ox spleen, snail, and earthworm (Bhargava el al., 1966 Bhargava and Gottschalk, 1967 Schauer and Gottschalk, 1968 Buddecke el al, 1969),... [Pg.468]

Mills in 1948 reported that the enzyme from ox spleen displayed two pH optima at 4.5 and 5.0-5.2, and he attributed the multiple optima to different proteins of identical specificity. Other investigators, however, (Levvy and Marsh, 1960) believed these multiple optima vrere due to a single enzyme in combination with different ions. The recognition of the existence of multiple forms of the enzyme which could be partially separated by ion-exchange column chromatography (Moore and Lee, 1960) produced a new field of j3-gIucuronidase. [Pg.523]
