Oversized in diameter

The manufacturing process starts with a cylindrical billet of the base metal that is oversized in diameter, as shown in Fig. 10.24(a). Prior to most steps, including at... [Pg.454]

The investigating team recommended both hardware and procedural changes. They recommended that the vent stacks on each tank be increased from 6 inches (15 cm) in diameter to 10 inches (25 cm). That is about a 300-percent increase in cross-sectional venting area they knew it was not enough for the previous scenario, but it was oversized for the newly created procedures. A revision was made to the pH monitoring system. Agitator start buttons were relocated from the top platform to ground level. [Pg.74]

The contralateral limb component is deployed separately. It is designed to be 10-25% oversized in relation to the iliac artery s inner diameter to ensure affixation and reduce the risk of endoleaks. It is also flared on the proximal end in an open web configuration for the same reason. The friction between the inside of the contralateral stub and the outside of the contralateral limb is all that joins the two together, so the oversizing is key to ensuring a proper fit and no migration. The Valiant is Medtronic s latest thoracic stent-graft. [Pg.654]

Rarely do design engineers request the L/D faetor in their quotes. Some engineers don t know they have the option. Most pumps are bought based on priee, and beeause a high defleetion resistanee (low L/D Faetor) indieates a larger diameter shaft with oversized bearings these U pe pumps don t normally win a competitive hid process. [Pg.136]

This could also be induced by design, if the pumps are oversized, or by high velocity and friction head in discharge piping of inferior diameter. [Pg.137]

Whenever two-phase flow is encountered in facility piping it is usually in flowlines and interfield transfer lines. Some designers size liquid lines downstream of control valves as two-phase lines. The amount of gas involved in these lines is low and thus the lines are often sized as singlephase liquid lines. Oversizing two-phase lines can lead to increased slugging and thus as small a diameter as possible should be used consistent with pressure drop available and velocity constraints discussed in Volume 1. [Pg.445]

Actual screens do not or provide an incisive separation. Rather, the screen analyses of the overflow and the underflow are like those shown in Figure 2.13 (C). The overflow contains a good amount of particles smaller than the desired cut diameter, and the underflow contains particles bigger than the cut diameter. The two curves overlap, as shown in Figure 2.13 (C). It may also be added that the mass of the two outgoing streams will not equal the individual masses of A and B unless it occurs that the undersize material in the overflow is equal to the oversize material in the underflow. [Pg.165]

The equations derived from consideration of material balances over a screen are found to be useful in calculating the ratios of feed, oversize, and underflow from the screen analysis of the three streams and knowledge of the desired cut diameter. Let F stand for the mass of the feed flow, D for the mass of the overflow flow, B for the mass of the underflow flow, mF for the mass fraction of material, A in feed, mD for the mass fraction of material A in the overflow and mB for the mass fraction of material A in the underflow. The mass fractions of material A are shown in Figure 2.13 (C). The mass fractions of material B in the feed, the overflow, and the underflow are 1 - mF, 1 - mD, and 1 - mn respectively. Since the total material fed to the screen must exit either as underflow or as overflow,... [Pg.165]
