Overprint aluminum

When the thermosetting overprint lacquer No. 1 (Table VII) was applied to aluminum foil and cured at 275 °F (135 °C) for 10 s, heat resistance of the coating was in excess of 500 F (260 C). The thermoplastic overprint lacquer No. 2, when dissolved in an alcohol-water blend, may be applied directly to the wet lithographic ink in order to improve gloss and permit the use of less expensive inks, eliminate starch sprays ordinarily used to prevent setoff, improve scuff resistance, and eliminate hydrocarbon effluents by replacing heat-set inks with oxidizing inks. [Pg.1067]

CAS 2386-87-0 EINECS/ELINCS 219-2074 Uses Resin for cationic, UV-curable formulations for overprint varnishes on tin-tree steei and aluminum for rigid pkg. [Pg.228]

Uses Wetting agent for polymer disps., mech. processes, aq. paints/ coatings, printing inks, emulsions, adhesives, difficult substrates e.g., plastic and metal surfs., cellophane and plastic films, aluminum foil, silicone-treated papers, glass, aq. overprint varnishes of offset prints Features Compat. in different polymer systems Properties Water-wh. clear liq. sol. in water vise. 50-150 mPa-s set pt. [Pg.417]

Apart from acrylate-based systems, which are cured by a free-radical mechanism, epoxide-based systems that are cured cationically are also used. Epoxide-based formulations yield excellent overprint varnishes on tin-free steel and aluminum for rigid packaging, especially when producing steel food cans and aluminum beer and... [Pg.190]
