Overall metric

Treatment attractiveness is an overall metric of utility that can be a function of product attributes such as safety, side effects, price, etc. The evaluation of attractiveness can also be tied to specific patient segments or physician specialties to more closely replicate differential evaluations in a complex marketplace, providing an additional level of analysis and insight into the standard template. [Pg.634]

The completeness, minimality, and structurality metrics can be combined into a weighted sum to provide an overall metric for the proximity of the generated schema and the intended scheme, i.e.,... [Pg.285]

The overall metric process should be fun and, if possible, facilitate a spirit of competition among groups or individuals. [Pg.492]

At our monthly department meeting, we announced the winners for the month in terms of (1) best overall metric performance, and (2) Sludge-Buster-of-the-Month (the buyer with the best sludge-reduction performance). The winners each received a gift certificate for a dinner for two at a good restaurant. [Pg.496]

For the Berry phase, we shall quote a definition given in [164] ""The phase that can be acquired by a state moving adiabatically (slowly) around a closed path in the parameter space of the system. There is a further, somewhat more general phase, that appears in any cyclic motion, not necessarily slow in the Hilbert space, which is the Aharonov-Anandan phase [10]. Other developments and applications are abundant. An interim summai was published in 1990 [78]. A further, more up-to-date summary, especially on progress in experimental developments, is much needed. (In Section IV we list some publications that report on the experimental determinations of the Berry phase.) Regarding theoretical advances, we note (in a somewhat subjective and selective mode) some clarifications regarding parallel transport, e.g., [165], This paper discusses the projective Hilbert space and its metric (the Fubini-Study metric). The projective Hilbert space arises from the Hilbert space of the electronic manifold by the removal of the overall phase and is therefore a central geometrical concept in any treatment of the component phases, such as this chapter. [Pg.105]

World reserves of germanium have been estimated at 4000 metric tons, but it is impossible to discuss reserves without considering price. In many apphcations, the cost of germanium is but a small part of the overall cost of the product. Thus substantially higher germanium prices would have Htde impact on such uses but would expand germanium reserves significantly. [Pg.280]

Furthermore, significant amounts of food are lost to pests. Worldwide preharvest crop losses to pests (insects, diseases, and weeds) are estimated to be about 35% each year (10). These major pest losses are occurring despite the application of about 2.5 million metric tons of pesticide, at an annual cost of 18 billion (11). Even after crops are harvested, an additional 20% of the food is lost to pests (12). Overall about 48% of all potential world food supply for humans is lost to pests despite all efforts to protect it. [Pg.310]

Figure 4.1. Assay results calculated according to three schemes WWW (top), VWV (middle), and VVV (bottom). The raw values (top panel, scale +2%) are plotted chronologically. In the bottom panel the standard deviations for the triplicate determinations are shown (scale 1%) the bold bar at right signals the average within-group SD, and the thin line besides it the overall SD. The VVV scheme does look inferior in this metric, but the raw data graph is much more powerful in conveying the idea. Figure 4.1. The required masses and raw material costs of any starting material or intermediate in a plan, including the final target product, may be determined by inspection. Overall kernel RME is shown to trump overall yield as the key metric to rank material efficiency of a synthesis plan. [Pg.101]
