Other Metallic Azides

Other azides do not have significant importance for practical applications. Most of them are moisture sensitive hygroscopic solids and some of them hydrolytically decompose. They also easily form complex compounds. Azides other than those of lead, copper, mercury, silver, palladium, and thallium are soluble in water and their isolation from aqueous solutions by crystallization is problematic on an industrial scale.

Nitrogen Is binding energies have been determined by AT-ray p.e. spectroscopy for [Rh(CO)2(N3)]2, together with some other metal azides. The similarity of their spectra to that of sodium azide suggests that the internal bonding of N3 is little affected by co-ordination i.e. the Rh—N3 bond is essentially ionic. 

With sodium thiosulphate the arsenite forms oxythioarsenates (see p. 282), as it also does with tri- and tetra-thionates sodium dithionate does not react either in cold or boiling solution. Sodium tellurate causes oxidation to arsenate.1 An ammoniacal solution of silver azide is reduced to silver by sodium arsenite other metallic azides do not react.
