Other Extinguishing Agents

Reactivity Reactivity refers to the susceptibility of materials to release energy. This class includes materials which are capable of rapid release of energy by themselves, either by polymerization or self-reaction. It also includes materials which will react violently with water or other extinguishing agents, either violently erupting or exploding. This class is meant to include chemicals which will react violently when in contact with common materials although this is usually limited to reactions with water, individual assessments should be made. [Pg.418]

EXPLOSION and FIRE CONCERNS combustible with evolution of chlorine at 210°C (410°F) NFPA rating (not rated) may form explosive mixtures with xylene reaction with water or steam will produce poisonous and corrosive fumes incompatible with strong acids contact with easily oxidized materials (such as ammonia salts and sulfides), will result in fire and explosion heating to decomposition emits toxic fumes of chlorine and oxides of nitrogen use dry chemical, foam, carbon dioxide, or other extinguishing agent suitable for firefighting purposes. [Pg.549]

FIra combuatibli (In powder form extremly flammabla). keep away from open flame and sparks, no smoking. special powder extinguisher, dry sand, NO other extinguishing agents. [Pg.80]

Rre combustible. keep away from open flame, no smoking. dry sarKl. special mdin(peshing powder, no other extinguishing agente. [Pg.859]

This type of helideck does not need foam or other extinguishing agents to deal with a fire on its surface and only water is sufficient to extinguish the residual fire vapor burn after the bulk of the fuel has been drained off. In recent tests on this helideck attended by representatives from UKCAA, ICAO, DNV, LRS, ABS, a 450L jet fuel fire was controlled as follows ... [Pg.271]
