Other examples of principal properties

Principal components models have been used to determine principal properties for classes of compounds in applications to other areas than organic synthesis. Some examples are given below. These examples will not be further discussed here. 

Aminoacids, where principal properties have been used to establish quantitative structure-activity relations (QSAR) for peptides.[29] In this context, a more elaborate concept, dedicated principal properties[ iO] has been suggested where the modelling process is carried out in several steps to achieve maximum predictability of the QSAR models. We do not go into details on this. 

Environmental hazardous chemicals, where principal properties of homogeneous subgroups have been determined and used to assess toxicity.[31] 

Substituents on aromatic rings, where the objective is to obtain orthogonal measures which could be used for design of test set in QSAR modelling.[32] 

Eluents for chromato aphy, where principal properties of solvents have been used to optimize separation in TLC and HPLC.[33]
