Orientation conductive

Z-axis adhesives are a unique class of new products. These adhesives contain conductive particles, which due to their orientation, conduct electricity across their thickness but are non-conductive along their length and width. Several circuit lines can be connected through the same strip of Z-axis adhesive with no current flow between circuit lines.

One can therefore take advantage of this alignment effect when anisotropic materials are desired. In a first example, the mesomorphic properties of Li2MogSe5 that we had previously demonstrated were used to synthesize (i) highly oriented conducting thin films by spin coating the pure material (after solvent evaporation) (ii) oriented composites by extrusion [112].

Although the anisotropy of conductivity in metallic oriented-]CH) or PPV-H2SO4 samples is nearly 100, the behaviour of the MC is identical whether the current is parallel or perpendicular to the chain axis. This suggests that high quality oriented conducting polymers behave as anisotropic three-dimensional systems in which the charge transport mechanism is nearly identical in both parallel and perpendicular directions to the chain axis.

PEF technology can be used to induce the non-thermal permeabilization of cell membranes and, depending on the treatment intensity (external electric field strength, number and duration of the electric pulses) and cell properties (size, shape, orientation, conductivity), the pore formation may be either permanent or temporary (Zimmermann et al, 1974,1976 Angersbach et al, 2000).
