Organometallic complexes of copper, silver, and gold are ideal precursors for carbene complexes along with some C- and N-coordinated species. Their reactivity pattern, in particular in oxidative addition reactions, was the most comprehensively studied. 

The participation of siloxane groups in the reaction increases with the temperature of dehydration of Si02 and quantity of organometallic compound introduced in the reaction. According to the data of infrared spectroscopy (139), the allyl ligands formed in the surface organometallic complexes of Ni and Cr keep the 7r-allyl character of the metal-ligand bond. 

The application of these catalysts in the initial state (without any special treatment of the surface organometallic complexes of such cata-lysts) for ethylene polymerization has been described above. The catalysts formed by the reaction of 7r-allyl compounds with Si02 and AUOj were found to be active in the polymerization of butadiene as well (8, 142). The stereospecificity of the supported catalyst differed from that of the initial ir-allyl compounds. n-Allyl complexes of Mo and W supported on silica were found to be active in olefin disproportionation (142a). 

The hydrogen transfer reaction (HTR), a chemical redox process in which a substrate is reduced by an hydrogen donor, is generally catalysed by an organometallic complex [72]. Isopropanol is often used for this purpose since it can also act as the reaction solvent. Moreover the oxidation product, acetone, is easily removed from the reaction media (Scheme 14). The use of chiral ligands in the catalyst complex affords enantioselective ketone reductions [73, 74].

The synthesis procedure consists in removing the ligands from an organometallic complex in the mildest possible conditions and with the minimum of potentially pollutant reactants.
