The organizations and agencies listed in this chapter fall into four categories  

For each organization, the listings include the webpage and e-mail address. Rather than list their e-mail address, many organizations include a web-based form for submitting questions and comments via the Internet. In these cases, the text notes that e-mail is available via a web form. The listings then include phone numbers, postal addresses, and brief descriptions of the organizations.

The following organizations are national in scope (a few are international). There are hundreds of local organizations of gun enthusiasts who often take an interest in gun control issues, and there are a growing number of local groups that work for gun violence prevention and gun control. The web sites of national organizations often have links to local organizations, as do some of the web sites listed in Chapter 7 in the Reference section.

The Council is composed of 17 national organizations and agencies, representative of health professions, licensing boards, health care facilities, pharmaceutical manufacturers, regulators, standards setters, and others (Table 1). The membership of the NCC MERP is interdisciplinary and represents crossfunctional groups in the delivery of health eare products and services. USP is a founding member and Secretariat to the Couneil.
