Organization, setting subcommittees

The OOC was active in opposing the need for the first version of SEMS (2009). During 2011 the organization set up various committees and subcommittees to develop means of working with SEMS. 

The next step in the development of a risk management program is to set up an organization. This is often done through use of a steering committee, subcommittees, and a risk/process safety management (PSM) coordinator, as shown in Figure 17.1. 

Except as provided in Rules 34 and 41, each committee of the Conference shall elect its own Chairman and other officers. These officers shall be elected on the basis of equitable geographical representation, experience and personal competence. Each committee may set up subcommittees or other subsidiary organs, which shall elect their own officers.
