These novel organic polymers were not developed solely for the CW or BW treatment market but are for much wider application. These same value-adding process additives are regularly incorporated into products for industrial and domestic cleaning, concrete, pulp and paper, metal finishing, paints and surface coatings, wastewater, seawater distillation, drilling muds, secondary oil-recovery, plastics extrusion, fibers, rubbers, and a host of other areas. 

Several cleaning methods are used to remove the densified gel layer of retained material from the membrane surface. Alkaline solutions followed by hot detergent solutions are indicated for organic polymer colloids and gelatinous materials fouling. Ferrous deposits, t3 pical in water treatments, are usually removed with a citric or hydrochloric wash. [35]. 

Thermally stable polymers containing titanacyclobutene units have been synthesized by central carbon radical alkylation (Section 2.12.9.2.4) of a l,4-bis( ]3-propargyltitanium)benzene complex. The reaction is remarkably clean and efficient subsequent protonation by ethereal HC1 produces the unsaturated organic polymer and Cp 2TiCl2 <2005MI511>. 

Like all other membranes, dynamic membranes experience flux decline over time to low steady state values. The permeate flux can be restored to its initial high value by applying a 500 to 1,000 ppm of sodium hypochlorite solution to wash out the fouled dynamic membrane. Porous ceramic supports were used instead of organic polymer membranes due to their resistance to chemicals and heat during the cleaning cycle.
