Organic multilayer thin film deposition

State-of- the-Ait in Organic Multilayer Thin Film Deposition Techniques. [Pg.400]

Patterned organometallic multilayers may be of interest also as etch barriers in RIE processes. For this purpose it is essential that these films can be fabricated from etch resistant organometallic polyferrocenylsilane chains only, as organic polymers offer no resistance to reactive ion etching. This chapter deals with the formation of continuous organometallic multilayer thin films, and with the fabrication of patterned organometallic thin films, formed by area-selective deposition of organo-metaUic polyions on prepattemed substrates. [Pg.101]

Fabrication of organic thin films based on sponfaneous molecular assembly has been considered as one of fhe powerful approaches to create novel supramolecular systems. In this context, multilayer films were fabricated by layer-by-layer electrostatic deposition techniques based on the electrostatic interaction between dsDNA and the positively charged polymer poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDDA) on GC surfaces. A uniform assembly of PDDA/DNA multilayer films was achieved, based on the adsorption of the negatively charged DNA molecules on the positively charged substrate [55]. [Pg.19]

The main starting point for thin-fihn low molecular weight materials was the work reported by Ching W. Tang and Steven van Slyke of Kodak in 1987, when they described the green electrolnminescence obtained from a thin film of vapour deposited aluminium tris(8-hydroxyquinoline) (Alq). ° Since that time the development of multilayer device structures and several new important classes of organic EL materials has led to snbstantial improvements and to the commercial development of display technologies based on this system. ... [Pg.227]

Next, in the 1980s, the organic multilayer structures, which are another key technology of present high-performance OLEDs, appeared. In 1986, Hayashi et al. observed a remarkable reduction of the driving voltage by inserting a polythiophene-electropolymerized thin film between an indium-tin-oxide (ITO) anode and a perylene-deposited film.30 The insertion of the polythiophene thin... [Pg.44]
