Organic Amines and Their Derivatives

As briefly mentioned earlier, add or anhydride functional polymers are used to ensure dispersion and exfoliation of the organodays in polymers such as polypropylene. It is popularly believed that this is due to interaction of the functional polymer and the onium ion treatment on the day, but this appears to be a misconception. It seems that the key feature, attracting the functional polymer into the day galleries, is its interaction with free sites on the day surface. Thus, complete coating of the surface is undesirable. [Pg.137]
