Vibrational spectral data have been reported for solid thorium tetranitrate hydrates by several investigators [31, 32, 34 to 42]. The most extensive infrared assignments for Th(N03)4 5H20 and Th(N03)4 4H20 are those reported by Ferraro, Walker [39]. Their results are listed in Table 19, p. 71, together with data on Th(N03)4. Raman nitrate modes (in cm ) are reported by Petrov et al. [40] for the pentahydrate at 635, 714 (ve), 740, 762 (vg), 820 (vg), 950, 1035 (V2), 1230, 1323 (V4), 1496, 1536 (v ) and 1625 (5H2O), whereas Ferraro et al. [38] report somewhat different positions, viz., 760, 810,1044,1104 and 1213 cm Bands for the tetrahy-drate occur at 714, 748, 1036, 1487 and 1542 cm i [32]. [Pg.82]
