Opportunities beyond Yield

Sustained agricultural demand will secure the profitable future growth of the agribusiness, which plays a fundamental role in allowing growers to substantially increase crop yield and thus in securing the world s food supply. [Pg.134]

In this new era, three basic strategies can be pursued the introduction of new and more efficient products, innovation in crop seeds with new biotech traits, or commoditization. Only the leading companies will be able to pursue more than one option. Whichever strategic model they adopt, successful agribusiness players will continue to deploy their strengths to increase plant yield through plant protection applications, improved seed quality, and approaches to targeting consumer value. [Pg.135]

In addition to this traditional focus, the larger agribusiness players are now using their portfolios of active ingredients to enter other, faster-growing professional and consumer-driven segments. [Pg.135]

Industrial Cases - Growth by Continued Self-Renewal [Pg.137]

Worldwide, industrial gases generates annual revenues of approximately USD 40 billion1 , with a geographic spread roughly reflecting the distribution of industrial activity Europe and North America each account for about one third of the revenues, Asia for another quarter. [Pg.137]

While polymorphs may open up new properties for an API, forming a cocrystal from the API and a co-former can make it possible to achieve other desired properties beyond those of the particular API itself. Co-crystals offer the opportunities and benefits that come from a new chemical composition as well as from its crystalline form. A co-crystal allows the properties of an API to be engineered on the basis of the composition of the co-crystal. Different coformers can, and probably do, yield co-crystal composition with differing properties. The choice of the co-former then leads to a different composition and different properties for the particular co-crystal. The crystalline nature or form of the co-crystal can also provide its own unique properties to the co-crystal. Thus, the composition and crystalline nature of a co-crystal provide two paths to engineering the properties of the co-crystal and the API within it. [Pg.320]
