One-dimensional 12-ring channels

The MOR framework (Table 2.6, Figure 2.13) is built from chains of five-mem-bered rings linked laterally to form the three-dimensional structure. The framework defines a one-dimensional 12-ring channel system coimected in one direction by eight-ring channels (Figure 2.14).

To illustrate the influence of pre-transition-state control for a zeolite-catalyzed reaction, we describe the results of a quantum-chemical study of the alkylation of toluene by methanoll l. The selectivities to produce ortho-, meta- or pora-xylene in the channel of the Mordenite zeolite are studied. The study illustrates the effect of the spatial constraint induced by the one-dimensional 12-ring micropore channel dimension on the selectivity of the zeolite catalyzed-reaction.

If all compounds presented in this chapter are synthesized using one amine as template, an exception must be mentioned here. The oxyfluorophosphate TREN-GaPO [40] uses two templating amines tris-(2-aminoethyl)amine (TREN) and pyridine. In the three-dimensional structure, TREN molecules occupy 12-ring channels while the pyridine molecules reside in 8-ring tunnels. 

The framework topology 46 is also a new one. Up to date, no AIPO4-46, only MeAPO-46 and MeAPSO-46 have been prepared. ITie structure is based on capped 6-membered rings surrounding a one-dimensional (1-D) 12-ring channel system (33). 

The probe reaction utilized a 1/1 molar mixture of methanol and isobutanol over H-mordenite, a strongly acidic zeolite comprised of linear one-dimensional channels made up of 12-ring 6.5 by 7.0 A windows [8]. There is a side-pocket system in H-...
