Foodomics involves the use of multiple tools to deal with its different applications. Thus, the use of omics tools (as e.g., transcriptomics, proteomics, or metabolomics) is a must in this new discipline. Although a detailed description on these tools is out of the scope of this chapter, some fundamental concepts on different omics techniques are provided below. [Pg.398]

These new omics technologies will also enable us to efficiently identify novel compounds of value to both the Agrochemical and Pharmaceutical industries. It is of crucial importance that the data that results from high throughput analyses of the genome, transcriptome, proteome and metabolome of crop plants and foeir relatives is archived in an appropriately structured and indexed manner.
