Objective and strategy

An experimenf is just a test or series of tests. Experiments are performed in all scientific disciplines and are an important part of the way we learn about how systems and processes work. The validity of the conclusions that are drawn from an experiment depends to a large extent on how the experiment was conducted. Therefore, the design of experiments plays a major role in the eventual solution of the problem that initially motivated the experiment and, as [Pg.51]

A critical question is how to perform the experiments in order to evaluate the influence of the experimental conditions on the property that measures the performance of the procedure. [Pg.52]

Common practice consists in investigating the influence of one experimental variable (hereafter we will refer to it as a factor while keeping other factors at a fixed value. Then, another factor is selected and modified to perform the next set of experiments, and so forth. This one-factor-at-a-time strategy has been shown to be inefficient and expensive it lacks the ability to detect the joint influence of two or more factors (z.e. it cannot address interactions) and often needs many experiments. An increase in efficiency can be achieved by studying several factors simultaneously and systematically by means of an appropriate type of experimental design. In such a way, the experiments will be able to detect the influence of each factor and also the influence of two or more factors because every observation gives information about all factors. [Pg.52]

Nobody can ever rightfully claim to hold the absolute truth on survey data interpretation, or to possess the only path for future operational objectives and strategies. Nevertheless, the more experienced water treatment representative will tend to provide a more practical and cost-effective proposal than the new recruit, fresh from the vendor s training school. [Pg.285]

Unified command structure This allows all agencies involved in the response to coordinate efforts by establishing a unified set of incident objectives and strategies. [Pg.146]

Monitor progress, priorities, resources, and funding against company objectives and strategy. [Pg.48]

The Group is organized into five Businesses. Businesses are portfolios of activities operating according to common objectives and strategies. One such Business is the Chemicals Business. [Pg.403]

Unified command structure Disciplines and response organizations work through designated managers to establish common objectives and strategies to reduce conflict or duplication. [Pg.140]

Identify the need for training. The trainee will understand better if instructors clearly present objectives and strategy for training. [Pg.453]

Unified Command Structure Disciplines and response organizations work through designated managers to establish common objectives and strategies to reduce conflict or duplication. Span of Control The structure permits each supervisory level to oversee an appropriate number of assets based on size and complexity of the event. [Pg.113]
