Oatmeal baths

Oatmeal baths. Regular use of oatmeal baths in tepid water may help soothe the itching associated with psoriasis and reduce the need for systemic anti-pruritic agents. 

Oatmeal baths are useful in relieving the itching associated with poison ivy rashes. 

Hydroxyzine, diphenhydramine, oatmeal powder baths, lubriderm lotion... 

For chronic dermatitis, lubricants, emollients, or moisturizers should be applied after bathing. Soap-free cleansers and colloidal oatmeal products also alleviate itching and soothe the skin. 

Home remedies offer an inexpensive and safe option for treating skin diseases. Eor example, regularly washing the face with a face wash that contains tea tree oil, a natural antibacterial agent, helps to kill the bacteria residing in the pores of the skin and helps to reduce instances of acne. Epsom salt baths or mud baths coupled with frequent exposure to sunhght are excellent home remedies for psoriasis. The application of oatmeal or seawater can help reduce the inflammation and itchiness associated with eczema. 

For chronic dermatitis, lubricants, emollients, or moisturizers should be applied after bathing. Soap-free (or mild) cleansers and products containing colloidal oatmeal also contribute to alleviating itch and soothing the skin. If the patient s reaction does not subside within a few days, or further spread occurs, the patient should be referred for specialist follow-up and for prescription therapy with stronger topical corticosteroids and possibly oral corticosteroid therapy.
