The outlook for Eastlays seemed bleak until, early in 1981, a sales caravan and several security men armed with walkie-talkies suddenly arrived on site. Soon it was leaked to the press that Guernsey-based Rusepalm Developments were going to transform Eastlays into a nuclear condominium where those who could afford it could buy protection against thermonuclear war and radioactive fallout.
