Two other methods, multiple layer and evaporation, are in production use today. Multiple layer coating is a proprietary method capable of coating, as the name implies, multiple layers on a single base film. The layers can be coated at the same time and be of different formulations. The different layers, then, can serve different pmqjoses in the recording process.
