Nitromuriatic acid

Salpetersalzsaure, /. nitrohydrochloric acid, nitromuriatic acid, aqua regia. [Pg.376]

Two memoirs were afterward published in France [continued Tennant] one of them by M. Descotils and the other by Messrs. Vauquelin and Fourcroy. M. Descotils chiefly directs his attention to the effects produced by this substance on the solution of platina. He remarks that a small portion of it is always taken up by nitromuriatic acid during its action on platina and, principally from the observations he is thence enabled to make, he infers that it contains a new metal, which, among other properties, has that of giving a deep red colour to the precipitates of platina. M. Vauquelin attempted a more direct analysis of the substance, and obtained from it the same metal as that discovered by M. Descotils, But neither of these chemists have observed that it contains also another metal, different from any hitherto known.. . . ... [Pg.437]

It is yeUow or red by reflected light, green by transmitted light, reddish-purple when flnely divided not veiyr tenacious softer than silver very malleable and ductile. It is not acted on by H,0 or air at any temperature, nor by any single acid. It combines directly with Cl, Br, I, P, Sb, As, and Hg. It dissolves in nitromuriatic acid os auric chloride. It is oxidized by alkalies in fusion on contact with air. [Pg.127]

NITROMURIATIC ACID (8007-56-5) An extremely strong oxidizer. Violent reaction with reducing agents, combustible materials, metal powders, organic substances, and other easily oxidized materials. Reacts with ethylene chloride, sulfuric acid, acrolein, antimony trisulfide, antimony tritelluride, arsenic pentasulfide, 1,1-dichloro-l-nitroethane, 1,3-dichloropropene, diethylamine, s-trioxane. Incompatible with /w-bis(trichlormethyl)benzene. Dissolves metals such as gold, palladium, and platinum. Attacks polyvinyl alcohol and engineering metals, including Hastelloy C and 316 stainless steel. See also Hydrochloric Acid, Nitric Acid, Nitrosyl Chloride. [Pg.872]

Nitrohydrochloric Acid. Aqua regia nitromuriatic acid chloronitrous acid chloroazotic acid. Made by mixing 18 ml HNOj, 82 ml HCI. In addition to the free acids, it contains nitrosy] chloride (NOCI) and some free chlorine. [Pg.1046]

Taurin has acid properties and forms salts it is not attacked by H,S04, HXOa, or nitromuriatic acid, but is oxidized by nitrous acid, with formation of H,0, and isethionic acid. [Pg.311]
